73% of buyers demanding money for non-pecuniary damage

The majority (73%) of disgruntled consumers are demanding compensation for moral harm. Judges often (in 82.8% of cases) side with the plaintiffs, although significantly (on average, 5 times) reduce the amount of compensation. Examining the results of legal disputes between customers and owners of the Ukrainian Internet-shops, the firm Cai & Lenard determine the maximum amount of "questionable" purchases - 14 thousand hryvnia (about $ 1700). Average value of goods due to which online retailers and their customers are met in the court, makes 3,8 thousand hryvnia ($ 480). The suit was becoming not only inadequate quality of purchased products, but also the failure to provide information about the product or its incompleteness. Even if the trial court sided with the buyer, Internet marketers have a great chance to win in the event of further litigation.
